Sgt. James Brown – Iraq War Veteran’s Last Moments Before Dying In Police Custody

james_brown_c0-25-640-398_s561x327This one was probably the hardest murder by the police that I’ve watched of them all. So many parts of the story make no sense whatsoever. Another thing that rings loud is that if a Veteran gets this kind of treatment, why is it hard for folks to believe that African American boys & men perceived as “thugs” aren’t getting treated the same for doing nothing as well? There’s always the presupposition that, “They must have done something…” to warrant the death penalty.

Please remember, that’s just what all of these killings are, the death penalty, because video after video, story after story indicates that there is no threat to the officers lives.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd-gMg03SY8

His name: Army Sgt. James Brown.

His mom, Dinette Robinson-Scott, wanted the public to see what happened to her son. Like other mom’s, this points back to the same goal of Emmett Till’s mother, Mamie Till. She wanted that open casket so the world could see what America was doing. It was a way to shame the country into repentance.

Has America been shamed enough yet? Jet magazine’s photo of Emmett provoked outrage everywhere in 1954. But in our video age…Video of Tamir Rice wasn’t enough? Video of John Crawford wasn’t enough? Video of Walter Scott wasn’t enough? Video of Eric Garner wasn’t enough?

Emmett Till

This is why I DO NOT co-sign the Evangelicals when they claim God is going to punish America for its lack of morality TODAY (e.g. homosexuality, abortion). Just because murder(er)s, (who went away free as evidenced by the kiss above), were ignored, do you think God was pleased with this country then?

The list keeps growing…

Oh, and let me mention that I didn’t see any of those “good officers” that everyone always point to, running to AT LEAST call 9-1-1. Obviously intervening is too much to ask.

Now I wonder what the liberals would say if this had been video of an American soldier doing this to an Iraqi citizen, and the Pro-Life conservatives? If you have no problem with this, is there any truth to the saying that “they seem to only care about life in the womb, but they truly don’t care about life outside of the womb.”

I thought time & space was our argument and that life is life. Life is God-given and has personhood in the woman, not just outside the woman.

Amazing all the things from his past that were brought up as “possible causes” like PTSD & “sickle cell crisis”? (Will this trait now be used against every African American with sickle cell seeing that we’re the main ones afflicted? Shame that he served in Iraq twice, survived combat, only to come home and be killed while serving a DWI sentence that he turned himself in for. The fact that emergency medical services were never called is very telling. Sad that this is how he got thanked for his service…and he likely won’t get a movie ever made about him.

Another child to be raised without a dad.

Another parent, burying her son.

As the saying goes these days. If the country really wanted to do something about single parent black families, stop killing their fathers (or putting them in prison for crimes that you later make legal…but we’ll pick up the drug discussion another day).

Life In “Post-Racial” America – Black Man Vs. White Man Carrying AR-15 Legally

BN-DB555_target_G_20140603151325

Here’s our video of the day.

I hope my man got paid for the risk he took for this “scientific” research! We’ve seen that a black man’s arrest, trial and execution takes all of 2 seconds in this country right now.

Don’t believe me?

John Crawford – Walmart (toy gun he was purchasing): Killed immediately

Tamir Rice – Cleveland Park (toy gun, 12 years old): Killed immediately

Black homeowner – S.C., holding gun when he was the one who called the police because he was being robbed (read HERE): Shot…thankfully he lived.

My “Prophecy” (Not From the Lord, But From Good Sociology) is Coming True Church, You Don’t Want To Talk About Race…the NOI Will

HLF951016DVD-2

I’ve been saying this for a year now. We are entering an environment where all the Nation of Islam has to do is just open its doors to the many young African-Americans who want to come in. These “kids” are not atheists or agnostic. Most will be Baptists, Methodist, Catholic, Church of God in Christ or just plain “Evangelical”, and the roots they’ve received from their respective churches all their lives are likely as shallow as a puddle on a sidewalk.

Therefore, to give them an opportunity to just talk, let alone mobilize about white supremacy will pull like gravity.

So I was not surprised at all to see the following:

EXCLUSIVE: The Nation Of Islam Speaks On Involvement In Baltimore – “America Will Never Be The Melting Pot We Want It To Be”

Political leaders, athletes, and musicians headed to the city of Baltimore this past week, making headlines for their kind words, ideas, and inspiration after peaceful demonstrations turned violent following the funeral of Freddie Gray on Monday. Gray, 25, died from a spinal injury while in police custody. While the chaos of arson and looting took over headlines, one group’s efforts to prevent it all peculiarly went unnoticed – The Nation Of Islam.

Since its formation more than 80 years ago, the Islamic religious movement has dedicated their mission to bettering the mind, heart, and economic state of African-Americans. While the group has faced criticism for its harsh militancy position during the civil rights movement, some group members were seen on the front lines of the Baltimore riots, preventing possible looters from invading stores and bringing together Crips and Blood gang members in a photo that went viral over the weekend.

Does the Baltimore Uprising Raise Compassion In You? The Justified Life with God is a Compassionate Life Toward Men – Thabiti Anyabwile

This shot and cover is amazing!

This shot and cover is amazing!

If God allows you and I to live long enough, we’ll see another “race riot” in two months or two decades. History has shown that “race riots” in the USA are just as predictable as the weather.

The response of the Christian community is, well, as I said on social media to my wife:

“Forgive me as I don’t want to jack your post. But it jumped out at me that this article was written on a site who’s worldview is much different from ours. However, as it was during Ferguson, the vast majority of Christian sites/commentators are once again silent. I can’t help but reflect once again on the Good Samaritan parable, MLK’s comments about the silence of The Church during his protests/persecution, and 1 John 4. It confirms yet again, if I were on the side of the road unjustly beaten, in jail for protesting (not because my hockey team won a game) or just feeling troubled and saddened by the actions of my nation, comfort would be far more likely to come from those who need the gospel themselves, not by those who claim to share my belief in the gospel and its power. That in and of itself may be more shameful than what’s going on in the nation today…for at least I know where “they” stand, but I’m forced to ask on Sunday (e.g. within the Christian community), “who is my brother?” – 4:19, “We love, because He first loved us. 20If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.”

Yes, sometimes as a so-called “Black Christian”, you feel quite alone during these times in our lives. It was this same environment in the early ’90s, that resulted in a rise in the number of African-Americans turning to the Nation of Islam. So many just wanted someone spiritual to speak up about crack in our communities, police brutality in our neighborhoods that resulted in a video of a man named Rodney King being beaten worse than a dog, and later riots in the streets of L.A..

But the Nation of Islam need the gospel, they do not have an answer.

The message below from Thabiti Anyabwile resonates with you African-American Christian. The NOI, Bahia, and now Kemet may make our flesh feel justified, but it will not justify our souls. Only Jesus Christ can do that, and I thank God that even when things seems to be at their worse, He still has men out there saying, “The Bible DOES deal with race! God is not a white-devil used to enslave your minds!”

Check out the message from this brother. He broke IT DOWN (some of y’all know what I mean when I say that). I can truly say he’s my “favorite” dude right now and I’m so glad God is using him to teach me at this time in my life, when I’m even standing out wondering, “Lord, am I missing something? Can people not get rid of their ethnic identity to be one with my people group in the Church?”

Get Your Copy Now: Resurrecting Black Wall Street

Get the order in and add this to the family library!

Just in case you think the story is less true because it’s being told by African-Americans, you can read Tulsa’s very own report yourself done decades later (yes, it’s easy to find online if you want to make the effort).

Or I’ll give you a freebie, as you can listen to the short podcast HERE by two Caucasian women on a show called, you guessed it, Stuff You Missed In History Class.

Well, truth be told, I can’t miss something I was never taught.

My kids know all about it though, and that’s why we love home schooling!!!

“Resurrecting Black Wall Street” not only tells the story of what happened, but discusses the aftermath.  We discuss the fight for reparations that was never answered by the Oklahoma legislature.  The film also discusses ways that the black community can learn from those who had the vision to create a kingdom of cooperative economics unlike anything seen before or since that tragic period in 1921.

The film features several expert commentators, including Finance PhD Dr Boyce Watkins, Dominique Reese,  Michael Imhotep of the African History Network, and many more.  You MUST (emphasis theirs) share this story with your children and we must learn from this tragedy in order to build a better tomorrow.” – http://store.yourblackworld.net/products/resurrecting-black-wall-street-dvd-pre-order

The Best “Riot” Coverage I’ve Ever Seen…

Once again, I really can’t add any commentary to this one.

All I’ll say is that when you get into “those conversations” (some of you know what I mean) at work, school or church. Just have this vid loaded and ready to go on your phone or computer.

The “discussion” will likely be over pretty quickly without you having to hardly say anything.

Another Parent Buries Their Child: The Murder Of Walter Scott

abc_walter_scott_michael_slager_video_bug2_01_jc_150407_4x3_992

walter-scottHow many more stories do we need to SEE? A generation ago, video footage (Selma)  or even a photo (Emmett Till) sparked change and outrage in all people groups. Today, many won’t blink, will turn on and listen to Fox News, and continue to defend the actions of police who are lying and shooting down African-Americans with impunity. If this were any other people group, there is no doubt that the nation’s reaction would be completely different.

I bet the Church’s reaction would be different as well. I’d walk into service and people would be talking about how we need to pray for what is happening in our country and how they are scared. Folks would be holding prayer services for the persecution of ___ group in the nation. There would probably be academic debates about whether we are in The Tribulation period, if Obama’s the Antichrist, and when will the Abomination of desolation go down in the temple.

Instead, that statement is currently mostly reserved for President Obama and so-called “gay marriage”. Because you know, “we” (a group in which I’m not a part despite being a Believer) need to “take our country back”.

I wouldn’t be able to turn on my selected Christian podcast or talk show without hearing, “God will judge those who practice such terroristic acts and this is a supernatural attack against those created in the image of God, and we as Christians need to stand against such acts…”.

Instead, they’ll discuss how rap music (you know, that “jungle music”) creates thugs and the police are just enforcing the power of the sword given to them by God. After all, the KKK didn’t start executing and calling people niggers until rap came along using the word in the late ’80s. By that logic, I guess the Klan was actually a peace loving Christian organization during the civil rights 60’s as African-American singers were talking about being young, gifted and black.

Better yet, what would the nation’s reaction be if this video would have shown him shooting a dog running away?

Walter Scott

I can tell you the reaction we are seeing now though. And that’s a fund that’s been created defending the officer and raising money for him. Something we’ve seen for many of the officers and citizens who have shot African-American’s since George Zimmerman.

But the most important point of all, had there been no video (thank God for the brave person who recorded and turned it in), there would have been few questions and the cop’s LIE and planting of evidence would have been known only by God and officer.

My family’s prayers go out Walter Scott’s family. They should not have to bury their son.

This tragic incident opens up a whole other can of issues that I will discuss later. For example, the number of contacts that innocent African-American’s have with the police.  Take a look at New York’s Stop-and-Frisk data here. A busted tail light and child support warrant was enough to get Scott killed. I know many will say, “Look, he was running so he must have done something!” While I ask the question, “What would make a 50 year old man, who had a busted light as was late on his child-support (joining an enormous number of men including your’s truly at one time), run from the police?”

Was he fearing for this life?

Judging by the video, his fear was justified.

Sadly, he was unable to run fast enough.

Please pray for our nation, because for many of us, we’re beginning to wonder if Jim Crow 2.0 is the beginning of a new Tribulation period.

Reasons African-Americans May Want To Homeschool: To Keep Them Out Of The School To Prison Pipeline

Proverbs 20:23 – Unequal weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are not good.

I think this video sums things up in less time it would take me to type up a post.

However, I’ll just say that personally, I’ve witnessed this long before I ever knew about “The Pipeline”.

In my suburban high school, our basketball team got into a major parking lot brawl with another suburban high school. Cops were called, no one went to jail, and guys were bragging about the action the next day in school.

Fast forward a few years…my brother was attending a high school in the city. He got involved in a food fight in the cafeteria. School staff broke up the fight, called the police, and my parents got the call to pick him up from jail. The story didn’t end there, as he later had a court case (ironically held in our neighborhood middle school with a bunch of other school “court” cases), and had to have his recruiter vouch for him that he was a “good kid” and would soon be in the military, so don’t punish him.

Perhaps his biggest crime was not getting into a fight when he went to a school in the ‘burbs instead.

To Leave A Child and To Bury Your Child – The Death of Calvon “Andre” Reid

Perhaps it is a waste of time to focus on the lives of those being killed at the hands of those who are supposed to be protecting and serving the community. No matter what the case, someone is bound to say, “Yea, but what about…”. The problem with those “what abouts” are numerous, but the two main one’s are:

1.) They never warrant the death penalty

2.) They are false rumors spread by the police, internet trolls, or the media to taint the jury, gather public support and slander the dead.

That’s it, plain and simple. The latest example is this. At this point in 2015, who has proven to be the real thug, Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman?

So let me make an appeal from this angle. What about the children left behind after their father’s have been killed?

What about the parents who have to bury their sons? Don’t we always say, “The worst thing in life is for a parent to bury their child.”

I bet the pain of death stings even more when they can’t even find out the facts of the case because of police cover-ups and/or false testimonies. When justice is not given, where do you turn next?

Please read the latest killing HERE of Calvon “Andre” Reid in Florida. This story is quite disturbing. Another father is dead, leaving behind two sons and has to be buried by his parents. What’s also disturbing is that eyewitness testimony has sent many black men to prison, where some have died or remain AFTER it is found out the person committed perjury. However, eyewitness testimony is nothing when given against a police officer. Even after lies seem to be told following the incident by the police, they receive the assumption of innocence.

Next, watch the video with his parents HERE.

CSD Greatest Day Ever: Attending Lecture By James W. Loewen With My Couple Members Of My Crew

It was one of those GDEs (Greatest-Day’s-Ever).

It’s not often in life where you can meet the people who have written your academic textbooks, but my kids had just that opportunity as we attended a lecture with James Loewen. This is why I love homeschooling, and we’ve followed Loewen since I first heard about his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me.

This outing was perfect for me this week as my German colleague and I had a great time discussing history and compared a few interesting things about our countries.

1.) He noted that Germany has always taught its citizens about the Holocaust in an effort to acknowledge past sins and they have a desire never to see such a horrible atrocity happen again. I told him that I have a history book that I bought to use as a supplemental text this last year and there is no mention of slavery. The majority of people in this country know very little about the institution of slavery beyond its existence and could care less.

2.) Speaking of silence, Detroit had its version of the Berlin Wall as well. The  “Detroit Race Wall” was created to be a physical barrier dividing whites and blacks. As an NPR story noted, “”And the developer who wanted to develop in this area was told no by the FHA,” Horner says. “Because it was considered to be too close to an African-American neighborhood. And so the solution that the developer came up with was to build a 6-foot-high wall that runs for about three long city blocks.” This truly was a symbol of Jim Crow North.

wall_old02_slide-6e07d4aff8a491d86f5900531cca1d39da805ae8-s6-c30

3.) Loewen has also done extensive research on Sundown towns. Sundown-towns required blacks to be out of town or face death by, you guessed it, sundown. Loewen told civilrights.org, “Well, the suburbs were all white for sundown policies, and this is clear after you read my book. So maybe there is some way to go after that decision and get it re-adjudicated. Certainly, that decision has left Detroit and the Detroit metropolitan area screwed to this day. And Detroit is the most segregated metropolitan area, it has the most downtown abandonment, and it had until the last five years the most sundown towns. Many of them have just recently broken and black folks can now live safely in at least three of the five Grosse Points, for instance, and in Dearborn, and in some of the others. But the damage has been done over the last several decades.” – http://www.civilrights.org/resources/bookclub/loewen-interview.html

There were actually MORE Sundown Towns in the north, than in the south! Source: Tolerace.org

4.) Loewen made dad right. CSD’s, you have to love that! He spoke of the importance of talking to people in order to find out real history. Young people today are far more text-savvy than they are book-savvy. Performing original research and interviews is becoming a lost skill, but it is vital in finding out the truth that (unlike Germany) our country has determined to suppress and modify in an effort to maintain a system of white supremacy. I’ve encouraged all of you to talk to your parents and friends about your past and race relations, because whether you realize it or not, it has shaped you. That past has shaped Detroit and if you live or lived in Michigan, Detroit shaped you.

only on 8 mile

It was truly a great night and the only down-side…my daughter didn’t bring the book so we could get it signed!

Oh well, it was still the Greatest Day Ever.
