Does the Baltimore Uprising Raise Compassion In You? The Justified Life with God is a Compassionate Life Toward Men – Thabiti Anyabwile

This shot and cover is amazing!

This shot and cover is amazing!

If God allows you and I to live long enough, we’ll see another “race riot” in two months or two decades. History has shown that “race riots” in the USA are just as predictable as the weather.

The response of the Christian community is, well, as I said on social media to my wife:

“Forgive me as I don’t want to jack your post. But it jumped out at me that this article was written on a site who’s worldview is much different from ours. However, as it was during Ferguson, the vast majority of Christian sites/commentators are once again silent. I can’t help but reflect once again on the Good Samaritan parable, MLK’s comments about the silence of The Church during his protests/persecution, and 1 John 4. It confirms yet again, if I were on the side of the road unjustly beaten, in jail for protesting (not because my hockey team won a game) or just feeling troubled and saddened by the actions of my nation, comfort would be far more likely to come from those who need the gospel themselves, not by those who claim to share my belief in the gospel and its power. That in and of itself may be more shameful than what’s going on in the nation today…for at least I know where “they” stand, but I’m forced to ask on Sunday (e.g. within the Christian community), “who is my brother?” – 4:19, “We love, because He first loved us. 20If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.”

Yes, sometimes as a so-called “Black Christian”, you feel quite alone during these times in our lives. It was this same environment in the early ’90s, that resulted in a rise in the number of African-Americans turning to the Nation of Islam. So many just wanted someone spiritual to speak up about crack in our communities, police brutality in our neighborhoods that resulted in a video of a man named Rodney King being beaten worse than a dog, and later riots in the streets of L.A..

But the Nation of Islam need the gospel, they do not have an answer.

The message below from Thabiti Anyabwile resonates with you African-American Christian. The NOI, Bahia, and now Kemet may make our flesh feel justified, but it will not justify our souls. Only Jesus Christ can do that, and I thank God that even when things seems to be at their worse, He still has men out there saying, “The Bible DOES deal with race! God is not a white-devil used to enslave your minds!”

Check out the message from this brother. He broke IT DOWN (some of y’all know what I mean when I say that). I can truly say he’s my “favorite” dude right now and I’m so glad God is using him to teach me at this time in my life, when I’m even standing out wondering, “Lord, am I missing something? Can people not get rid of their ethnic identity to be one with my people group in the Church?”

Get Your Copy Now: Resurrecting Black Wall Street

Get the order in and add this to the family library!

Just in case you think the story is less true because it’s being told by African-Americans, you can read Tulsa’s very own report yourself done decades later (yes, it’s easy to find online if you want to make the effort).

Or I’ll give you a freebie, as you can listen to the short podcast HERE by two Caucasian women on a show called, you guessed it, Stuff You Missed In History Class.

Well, truth be told, I can’t miss something I was never taught.

My kids know all about it though, and that’s why we love home schooling!!!

“Resurrecting Black Wall Street” not only tells the story of what happened, but discusses the aftermath.  We discuss the fight for reparations that was never answered by the Oklahoma legislature.  The film also discusses ways that the black community can learn from those who had the vision to create a kingdom of cooperative economics unlike anything seen before or since that tragic period in 1921.

The film features several expert commentators, including Finance PhD Dr Boyce Watkins, Dominique Reese,  Michael Imhotep of the African History Network, and many more.  You MUST (emphasis theirs) share this story with your children and we must learn from this tragedy in order to build a better tomorrow.” – http://store.yourblackworld.net/products/resurrecting-black-wall-street-dvd-pre-order

The Best “Riot” Coverage I’ve Ever Seen…

Once again, I really can’t add any commentary to this one.

All I’ll say is that when you get into “those conversations” (some of you know what I mean) at work, school or church. Just have this vid loaded and ready to go on your phone or computer.

The “discussion” will likely be over pretty quickly without you having to hardly say anything.

Another Parent Buries Their Child: The Murder Of Walter Scott

abc_walter_scott_michael_slager_video_bug2_01_jc_150407_4x3_992

walter-scottHow many more stories do we need to SEE? A generation ago, video footage (Selma)  or even a photo (Emmett Till) sparked change and outrage in all people groups. Today, many won’t blink, will turn on and listen to Fox News, and continue to defend the actions of police who are lying and shooting down African-Americans with impunity. If this were any other people group, there is no doubt that the nation’s reaction would be completely different.

I bet the Church’s reaction would be different as well. I’d walk into service and people would be talking about how we need to pray for what is happening in our country and how they are scared. Folks would be holding prayer services for the persecution of ___ group in the nation. There would probably be academic debates about whether we are in The Tribulation period, if Obama’s the Antichrist, and when will the Abomination of desolation go down in the temple.

Instead, that statement is currently mostly reserved for President Obama and so-called “gay marriage”. Because you know, “we” (a group in which I’m not a part despite being a Believer) need to “take our country back”.

I wouldn’t be able to turn on my selected Christian podcast or talk show without hearing, “God will judge those who practice such terroristic acts and this is a supernatural attack against those created in the image of God, and we as Christians need to stand against such acts…”.

Instead, they’ll discuss how rap music (you know, that “jungle music”) creates thugs and the police are just enforcing the power of the sword given to them by God. After all, the KKK didn’t start executing and calling people niggers until rap came along using the word in the late ’80s. By that logic, I guess the Klan was actually a peace loving Christian organization during the civil rights 60’s as African-American singers were talking about being young, gifted and black.

Better yet, what would the nation’s reaction be if this video would have shown him shooting a dog running away?

Walter Scott

I can tell you the reaction we are seeing now though. And that’s a fund that’s been created defending the officer and raising money for him. Something we’ve seen for many of the officers and citizens who have shot African-American’s since George Zimmerman.

But the most important point of all, had there been no video (thank God for the brave person who recorded and turned it in), there would have been few questions and the cop’s LIE and planting of evidence would have been known only by God and officer.

My family’s prayers go out Walter Scott’s family. They should not have to bury their son.

This tragic incident opens up a whole other can of issues that I will discuss later. For example, the number of contacts that innocent African-American’s have with the police.  Take a look at New York’s Stop-and-Frisk data here. A busted tail light and child support warrant was enough to get Scott killed. I know many will say, “Look, he was running so he must have done something!” While I ask the question, “What would make a 50 year old man, who had a busted light as was late on his child-support (joining an enormous number of men including your’s truly at one time), run from the police?”

Was he fearing for this life?

Judging by the video, his fear was justified.

Sadly, he was unable to run fast enough.

Please pray for our nation, because for many of us, we’re beginning to wonder if Jim Crow 2.0 is the beginning of a new Tribulation period.

Reasons African-Americans May Want To Homeschool: To Keep Them Out Of The School To Prison Pipeline

Proverbs 20:23 – Unequal weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are not good.

I think this video sums things up in less time it would take me to type up a post.

However, I’ll just say that personally, I’ve witnessed this long before I ever knew about “The Pipeline”.

In my suburban high school, our basketball team got into a major parking lot brawl with another suburban high school. Cops were called, no one went to jail, and guys were bragging about the action the next day in school.

Fast forward a few years…my brother was attending a high school in the city. He got involved in a food fight in the cafeteria. School staff broke up the fight, called the police, and my parents got the call to pick him up from jail. The story didn’t end there, as he later had a court case (ironically held in our neighborhood middle school with a bunch of other school “court” cases), and had to have his recruiter vouch for him that he was a “good kid” and would soon be in the military, so don’t punish him.

Perhaps his biggest crime was not getting into a fight when he went to a school in the ‘burbs instead.

To Leave A Child and To Bury Your Child – The Death of Calvon “Andre” Reid

Perhaps it is a waste of time to focus on the lives of those being killed at the hands of those who are supposed to be protecting and serving the community. No matter what the case, someone is bound to say, “Yea, but what about…”. The problem with those “what abouts” are numerous, but the two main one’s are:

1.) They never warrant the death penalty

2.) They are false rumors spread by the police, internet trolls, or the media to taint the jury, gather public support and slander the dead.

That’s it, plain and simple. The latest example is this. At this point in 2015, who has proven to be the real thug, Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman?

So let me make an appeal from this angle. What about the children left behind after their father’s have been killed?

What about the parents who have to bury their sons? Don’t we always say, “The worst thing in life is for a parent to bury their child.”

I bet the pain of death stings even more when they can’t even find out the facts of the case because of police cover-ups and/or false testimonies. When justice is not given, where do you turn next?

Please read the latest killing HERE of Calvon “Andre” Reid in Florida. This story is quite disturbing. Another father is dead, leaving behind two sons and has to be buried by his parents. What’s also disturbing is that eyewitness testimony has sent many black men to prison, where some have died or remain AFTER it is found out the person committed perjury. However, eyewitness testimony is nothing when given against a police officer. Even after lies seem to be told following the incident by the police, they receive the assumption of innocence.

Next, watch the video with his parents HERE.

The CSD Tribe Checks Out The Ken Ham Presentation: One Race-One Blood

If the Church can't get this right, why would the World believe them when it comes to Jesus Christ?

If the Church can’t get this right, why would the World believe them when it comes to Jesus Christ?

The CSD Tribe went to see Ken Ham present on One Race One Blood and it was astounding! I can’t help but wonder if it’s because Ken is from Australia, if that is why he can speak the truth, because he was not brought up to think as an “American”. He’s the first light-skinned Christian (see the video on why I didn’t just call him “white”) I’ve ever heard boldly proclaim that Adam & Eve should not be portrayed as being “white”, because it is not biblical. I even thought he was about to start going in on “White Jesus”! (Read about those thoughts HERE and HERE)

Ham even pointed out that there are “Christians”, who would rather their child marry someone of a different Spiritual Race (meaning, they are not Christians and are unequally yoked according to 2 Corinthians 6:14) than for them to marry someone from a so-called different Physical Race. Actually no other race exists, as even the secularists acknowledge that there are no races. Therefore, color is made up (sociologists have long said this) and Christians should be leading the way in defining and proving this fact, but instead we buy in and may I add, bring shame to the Word of God.

Remember, Acts 17:26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

My 13-year old daughter wrote a short essay in which she summarized things pretty well by stating, “…how did we get different races? We shouldn’t say race, we should say people groups, and we should not say color, we should say shade…Adam and Eve must have had the DNA to make different shades of skin. This means that Adam and Eve must have had a skin shade of light brown, because if you were dark brown, you would have a combination of ‘AABB’, but if you were a light shade you would have ‘aabb’. So it makes sense for them to be in the middle as AaBb.”

Yes indeed, that’s a lesson they wouldn’t be getting from the government school or most Christian schools.

The is a terrific video to show the fam and even my daughter said, “…I’m glad I went and didn’t stay home.”

Little does she know, she really didn’t have a choice any way…

CSD Greatest Day Ever: Attending Lecture By James W. Loewen With My Couple Members Of My Crew

It was one of those GDEs (Greatest-Day’s-Ever).

It’s not often in life where you can meet the people who have written your academic textbooks, but my kids had just that opportunity as we attended a lecture with James Loewen. This is why I love homeschooling, and we’ve followed Loewen since I first heard about his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me.

This outing was perfect for me this week as my German colleague and I had a great time discussing history and compared a few interesting things about our countries.

1.) He noted that Germany has always taught its citizens about the Holocaust in an effort to acknowledge past sins and they have a desire never to see such a horrible atrocity happen again. I told him that I have a history book that I bought to use as a supplemental text this last year and there is no mention of slavery. The majority of people in this country know very little about the institution of slavery beyond its existence and could care less.

2.) Speaking of silence, Detroit had its version of the Berlin Wall as well. The  “Detroit Race Wall” was created to be a physical barrier dividing whites and blacks. As an NPR story noted, “”And the developer who wanted to develop in this area was told no by the FHA,” Horner says. “Because it was considered to be too close to an African-American neighborhood. And so the solution that the developer came up with was to build a 6-foot-high wall that runs for about three long city blocks.” This truly was a symbol of Jim Crow North.

wall_old02_slide-6e07d4aff8a491d86f5900531cca1d39da805ae8-s6-c30

3.) Loewen has also done extensive research on Sundown towns. Sundown-towns required blacks to be out of town or face death by, you guessed it, sundown. Loewen told civilrights.org, “Well, the suburbs were all white for sundown policies, and this is clear after you read my book. So maybe there is some way to go after that decision and get it re-adjudicated. Certainly, that decision has left Detroit and the Detroit metropolitan area screwed to this day. And Detroit is the most segregated metropolitan area, it has the most downtown abandonment, and it had until the last five years the most sundown towns. Many of them have just recently broken and black folks can now live safely in at least three of the five Grosse Points, for instance, and in Dearborn, and in some of the others. But the damage has been done over the last several decades.” – http://www.civilrights.org/resources/bookclub/loewen-interview.html

There were actually MORE Sundown Towns in the north, than in the south! Source: Tolerace.org

4.) Loewen made dad right. CSD’s, you have to love that! He spoke of the importance of talking to people in order to find out real history. Young people today are far more text-savvy than they are book-savvy. Performing original research and interviews is becoming a lost skill, but it is vital in finding out the truth that (unlike Germany) our country has determined to suppress and modify in an effort to maintain a system of white supremacy. I’ve encouraged all of you to talk to your parents and friends about your past and race relations, because whether you realize it or not, it has shaped you. That past has shaped Detroit and if you live or lived in Michigan, Detroit shaped you.

only on 8 mile

It was truly a great night and the only down-side…my daughter didn’t bring the book so we could get it signed!

Oh well, it was still the Greatest Day Ever.

“The Talk” Never Has An Expiration Date for African-American Parents

Seattle Man

This man is 70 years old.

Is he a thug?

Why didn’t the officer lose her job?

Is the officer a thug?

Many are under the impression that only young African-American males are under more scrutiny by the police, as if they bring it on themselves under the guise of “black crime” (e.g. “super predators“).  However, I have pointed out numerous cases where older men have been under the same scrutiny for no reason. My caucasian father-in-law, who is in his mid-70s, has no fear of being pulled over by the police and he certainly doesn’t fear being arrested for walking with his cane.

Therefore, these types of incidents have more in common with Black Codes, than just some rogue police officer.

And again, if this is just one of those “bad” officers, why does she get to keep her job?

Is the police union concerned about truth and having an ethical department, or just supporting “their own”?

What Does The Christian Church and Muslims Have In Common?

Perhaps they both are perceived to protect their own. It has been this silence against injustice and choosing “whiteness” over proclaiming the Word of God, that perhaps Cory Booker was thinking when he made this comment below:

Booker

But since it’s MLK day, allow me to share a post I made yesterday on Facebook in response to the quote attributed to Booker:

“Today at my own church, two brothers spoke open and honestly about race and the church (and not because it’s MLK-day tomorrow). In nearly 30+ years of attending church services, I can NEVER recall any non-African-American speakers giving a message about race (note: today wasn’t the first time during a message at the church I’m currently attending, but certainly the first predominately “white” church that I’ve ever heard address the issue). I think Booker’s comments below summarize those of many, as the ears are closed to the gospel because of the racist actions seen by the eyes. In the U.S., Christianity has been used by white supremacist with complete silence from the Church, yet those in the Church will say to Muslims, “Why don’t you so-called good-Muslims speak out against terrorists if you really don’t support them?” I’m thankful that today, some steps were made by some true brothers in Christ.

Actions were made to go with the words that we say are true, but all of us struggle to live out daily before the very world we are trying to reach. There will always be something that someone can say as to why they do not want to hear the gospel. Yet our job is to just make sure we aren’t the stumbling block, because the gospel offends and convicts the heart more than enough and needs no further help from us.
1 Cor. 1:22-24 / “For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

Also, mad props over to Ken Hamm at Answers In Genesis and author of One Race One Blood, as I just saw he posted this as well:

Hamm

It truly reinforces Dr. King’s statement that, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.”

I’m glad to see more good people, and good being defined by their position in Christ and not of their own works (or any of our so-called “good works”) are becoming more fearless in proclaiming the gospel and showing the world that we’re about Christ and him crucified, not our ethnicity and our power.

Did The Blind Side’s Real Life Mom Blind Side Two Young Men?

10513495_789847224421069_4829368822853743530_n

I remember two distinct times that my dad got pulled over with me in the car. One was in our city, another was in a local suburb, but I remember him becoming infuriated when he was asked the following questions:

– Where are you going?

– Why are you over here (that one was in the suburb)?

No, this wasn’t a legal sundown town from the ’40s, it was the late ’80s. From what I remember, my dad’s response was, “I’m a grown man, I have the right to go where ever I want.” I never remember him getting a ticket for anything, and still have no idea why we had to get out of the car.

withers-i-am-man-jpeg

Black parents often speak of having “The Talk” with their young sons (or even daughters). That talk may explain how to act when the police are near you, how to act when in a store so security doesn’t think you’re stealing and whatever other circumstances they may find themselves in where they may get that super-predator label. It’s that label that separates the conversation from the one every other people group has with their children. My wife and I have had these conversations with our children, and especially with my 15 year-old son, who at 5’10 and over 170 pounds, has the physique of a man despite his boyish looking face.

Listen to the story of Kris Banks, one of the gentlemen in the photo:

Perhaps you’ve seen the Facebook post from Leigh Anne Tuohy saying,

We see what we want! It’s the gospel truth! These two were literally huddled over in a corner table nose to nose and the person with me said “I bet they are up to no good” well you know me… I walked over, told them to scoot over. After 10 seconds of dead silence I said so whats happening at this table? I get nothing.. I then explained it was my store and they should spill it… They showed me their phones and they were texting friends trying to scrape up $3.00 each for the high school basketball game! Well they left with smiles, money for popcorn and bus fare. We have to STOP judging people and assuming and pigeon holing people! Don’t judge a book by its cover or however you’d like to express the sentiment! Accept others and stoping seeing what you want to see!!!“

At first blush, many applauded the good deed that Leigh Anne had done, but others like Kris Bank’s teacher and mother questioned the incident. They looked deeper and seemed to question why someone, especially a private citizen, would be questioning the two gentlemen in the first place.

Now before you dismiss this as race-baiting, what happened in Sanford, Florida between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman? That young man reacted differently when confronted by a male (who was not a police officer), at night, because he looked suspicious. If I change any of those variables in this case, could the event have possibly ended up differently?

I’ll always remember my mom commenting on how many white parents never think about the hurt she feels when her son (me in that case) is rejected just because he’s black. Yet, she has always tried to treat their children just like anyone else regardless of their skin color. Personally, even if I give Tuohy the benefit of the doubt, I have to assume that she would never want someone approaching her daughter presupposing that she was “up to something”, especially if she was an honor student.

Sadly, perhaps these young men learned a lesson. Sometimes, you don’t have to be in a car. Sometimes you don’t have to be walking outside in a particular neighborhood dressed a certain way. Sometimes you may just be sitting there, and you may have to answer the 5W’s and 1H on call.

Do you think Banks was being exploited by Tuohy?

Did the two young men have a right to not answer Tuohy’s inquiry?

How would you have had your children respond?

How would you respond as a parent?

What talks have you had with your children?

Let Us Now Talk About Black-On-Black Crime…You Can Internalize That “Theory” In Your House, But I Will Not In My House

So what about so-called black-on-black crime? I wish I didn’t have to address this publicly, as no other people group stones their own the way black folks do. But in our Twitter-attention span, I hope some of you will take the time to check out this podcast Tariq Nasheed (producer of documentary series Hidden Colors) outlines easy ways to refute this senseless argument, as it comes up every single time there appears to be a racially motivated incident in this country. Sadly, many of the black folks reading this now have said the same thing or let the statement be made to them uncontested.

I’m working on an essay that will expand this topic even further. But let me say now, if you are black and think you’re earning some kind of credit with the dominant-society by repeating the same old lie, I hope you’re ready for the consequences as well. You see, when we buy into yet another stereotype such as that, we are not only impacting your own destiny, but our children’s destiny as well. People of ALL SOCIETIES SIN AGAINST EACH OTHER! That’s why Christ is the answer for all! However, when have you ever heard of discussions taking place for white-on-white, Jew-on-Jew, Italian-on-Italian crime? You don’t, so does that mean these crimes do not take place? They do (please read Stephanie Cootz’s book, The Way We Never Were, for plenty of non-black “thug” and immoral statistics), and every people-group knows they take place, but they will not throw each other under the bus the way we do, those discussions take place within the community.

Secondly, in regards to justice, who dared to be considered unpatriotic asking about white-on-white terrorism after 9/11? Did anyone say, “Well, why are we having a “war on terror” and fighting other countries when we haven’t addressed all the terrorists (and violence that the US leads the world in) in this country? Are we having white-on-white terrorism discussions concerning all the mass shootings, especially amongst our most vulnerable, children in school? None of this was or is seriously discussed publicly, but we have been so quick to adopt black-on-black crime as some strange pathology.

BaartmanPlease, do your history homework. We don’t even know where to start because we’re raised in a system that never even mentions us, but millions of us magically appeared in this country via “immigration” and MLK in the history books. But take advantage of this medium called the internet, as so much knowledge is at our fingertips. Learn about how everything about you, from your physical attributes (e.g. Saartjie Baartman, the black penis, our musculature), your learning ability (how many of your kids have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, or Bipolar in school?) and our “good” and our “bad”, is considered a pathology and superhuman. Our children end up thinking the same way about themselves, as though they are dumber, more violent, hyper-sexual, another “race” of people. But Genesis 1:26 says:

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

and Acts 17:26,

“And He has made all nations of men of one blood to dwell on all the face of the earth, ordaining fore-appointed seasons and boundaries of their dwelling.”

Therefore sorry Christians (if you’re a non-Christian and believe in evolution, you may believe in Darwin’s theory that “blacks” are a different “race” and genetically inferior, more violent, etc. and that can be refuted easily as well).

That’s why Darren Wilson’s testimony, using “superpredator words” like “Hulk Hogan” and “demon”, should have raised red-flags in the black community. Instead, it raised some white sheets, with a whole lot of black folks looking like Dave Chappelle in his Black White Supremacists skit. I know no one that automatically assumed innocent or guilt on that police officer or Mike Brown, but once that “theory” was accepted as truth and fact, Lady Justice’s blindfold had just been ripped off her head.
